LOST- Part 1

One of the reasons I started this blog, was due to a rather vivid daydream I had about LOST.  I have heard the rumors that Disney was already developing a LOST attraction years ago, but the attraction I envisioned seemed really neat in my mind -

If I was an Imagineer...

The LOST attraction queuing area would be in an airport, you would proceed to a flight check-in area and get your ticket (fastpass) and obviously if you did not have a fastpass you would be flying 'stand-by.'  When it was time for your departure you would proceed to your gate and then board your plane.

The ride vehicle that I imagined was an amalgamation of the 'Star Tours' motion simulator and the 'Indiana Jones'/'Dinosaur' attraction - or basically a 'Star Tours' attraction vehicle on wheels.

Once everyone had boarded Oceanic airplane, the simulation would be that of a normal everyday airplane ride.  Taxiing to the runway, takeoff, maybe short in-flight entertainment movies, and then the flashes of light start.  The simulator proceeds to make it feel as if the plane is out of control, and crashing.  When the doors finally open and the lights flicker on, the passengers deplane to find that they have crash landed on an island.

The flight vehicle would travel, possibly on a series of rails, through a tunnel, underwater, and dock on the LOST island.  While the vehicle was in motion, it would be simulating normal, level flight to the passengers inside, once the "plane" reached the docking area, it would then proceed to simulate the crash scene.
The ride vehicle would travel by rail, from the airport, to the Island via tunnel.  The fuselage on the beach would obscure the view of the tunnel coming up out of the water.  ©IIWAI

The docking area would appear, from the outside, to be a broken  fuselage with bits of wreckage strewn about the beach.

The island, would be the old Discovery Island, which existed as a small zoological area, before Animal Kingdom opened. And if Discovery Island is no feasible, then we need to build another.  I feel that it is important to really sell the crash landing, and give the passengers the feeling of really being isolated on the LOST island, so taking the ride vehicle out of the park completely is an important first step.
