A rant...Walt Disney Word vs. Disneyland

Things are really looking up for the Disneyland Resort. Just last week, they hosted an enormously successful "Black Carpet" premiere for the 4th film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, On Stranger Tides. The stars, including Johnny Deppy, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz, and Ian McShane, all entered on Main Street USA, on a completely decked out walkway:

The event was a rousing, unmitigated success. Despite the inconvenience caused by the early closing that night, fans were able to sit and catch a glimpse of their favorite stars, and a lucky bunch (who donated $1000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles) got to attend the premiere.

Review- Pirates of the Carbbean: On Stranger Tides

Despite a bizarre title (stranger tides than what?), the 4th entry into the enormously successful Pirates of the Caribbean franchise does exactly what it sets out to do- entertain audiences for two hours and let them spend time with familiar characters. The film is not nearly as good as the first film, but not nearly as bad as the middle two, and that's just fine. On its own, the film succeeds because of it's comfort food mentality- we know these characters, and we're eager to go off on an adventure with them. The film breaks no new ground, but it does do the things that we've come to know and love.

Technical Difficulties

Just so everyone is aware, apparently all of blogger.com has been having some technical difficulties.  A few of the posts that were made last week were automatically removed by the site.  They are slowly starting to restore the posts, but we're not quite sure when it will be completed.

We will repost the removed posts, once they have been restored (try saying that ten times fast).

Thanks!

More leaked concept art? New water park?

Late this week, a piece of Disney concept art was "leaked" onto the internet (and if you don't think the powers that be at Disney had anything to do with this, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you). It shows concept art for what appears to be a Pirates of the Caribbean themed water park. Take a look:

The Brazilians are coming! The Brazilians are coming!

Well, all right, they've already been here for years, but they might just be getting something a little more official at Walt Disney World, if the Brazilian press is to be believed. A Brazilian newspaper column ran a story earlier this week that stated fairly definitely that Brazil would be the next country added to Epcot's World Showcase, and the first major addition to that half of the park since 1988's opening of the Norway Pavilion.
