Same Floats Different Years

Just in case you were wondering here is a little pictographic evidence that - indeed, the floats in WDW have not changed in quite a few years.

LOST - Part 3

Read Part 2

We last left our survivors to explore the Swan (Perhaps taking time to enter a few numbers into a computer? just to be safe) and Orchid stations, and they have finally made their way to the Barracks.  Hopefully the high frequency sonar fence has been shut down.

The survivors can make their way to the Processing Center, and perhaps apply for jobs in the Dharma Initiative?

'Mars Needs Moms' - The Reason for the Flop

The New York Times recently ran an article entitled "Many Culprits in Fall of a Family Film" - 'Mars Needs Moms' Flops, and Some Blame 3D Prices.  This story was then picked up and commented on around the blogging world by Gawker and the like, with the story, "Does the Mars Needs Moms Catastrophe Mean Anything?"

I would like to offer my explanation because I don't necessarily believe the conclusions drawn by the NY Times.  They put most of the blame for the failure on 3-D and IMAX ticket prices, because theaters are adding $3 to $5 (sometimes more!) surcharges onto the already exorbitant movie ticket prices.  While I think that is a valid point, it could be the 'cop out' reason any movie fails.

The Next Gen Initiative

Greetings, readers!

Sorry for my absence recently, but I just returned from a fabulous, week-long vacation in Walt Disney World. Needless to say, I have many observations and thoughts percolating around my head, so my next set of columns will be a collections of these musings and thoughts.

I thought I'd begin with what I consider to be one of the most interesting technological advances that Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is currently pursuing: The Next Generation Intiative, or what Disney fans have taken to simply calling Next Gen. It's sort of a mixed bag, and there's a lot to be excited about, but also, a lot have gotten the Disney fans up in arms.
